Fort Fisher
Fort Fisher was the last strong hold of the South during the Amercian civil war of the 1860s. There were two major battles at the Fort before it was defeated. It was a very though fort to defeat and many men on both sides were injured and lost during the battles. General Whiting was the commander of the fort during the final battle in 1865. He is thought to still oversee the fort as there have been plenty of sightings of a confederate soldier, a general, walking the grounds. With so many violent and emotional deaths there is no wonder that this battlefield would have ghost.
On December 30 2006 C.P.R.S. with a valid permit, conducted a full investigation of Fort Fisher between the hours of 7 to 11 pm. The team met at a local hotel for a meeting and meal to go over the details of the nights investigation. The team arrived back at the fort and everyone took a quick tour of each area to get everyone familiar with the layout. The group was split into 3 teams that would allow all of the fort to be covered the entire time of the investigation. The weather was clear and the temp was around 45 with a light breeze.
Several orb pictures were captured in different parts of the fort especially around the mounds. An evp of a man's voice on a audio recorder that was left on the bridge was captured. The voice seems to be moaning as if it were in pain. The bridge is where alot of soldiers were gunned down trying to overtake and defend the fort. One team observed and took pictures of wet footprints on the concrete path alone the ocean. These prints seemed to be bare feet at first then seem to turn into boot prints. No one was observed on or near the ocean during this time.
The most interesting occurance of the night is when one member was off to himself and observed a figure standing on or near one of the mounds. He observed it only for a few seconds and then it was gone. This certain mound is the place where General Whiting has been seen many times. No one reported any strong feelings in any of the areas. But the activity seems to concentrate around the mounds and bridge back north toward the wooded area.
Overall the group feels the investigation went well. We feel that there is activity at the fort that cannot be explained by normal means. We were hoping for a little more evidence but feel for the short time we were there we done pretty well. We hope sometime in the future to return to the fort to collect more evidence and hopefully see the General again.
